Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican American reporter. She currently works as a sportscaster for ESPN and is anchor of SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. She began working for ESPN at the end of 2016. Her mother is the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since age nine. Her skill was instrumental in securing her first position as production assistant for Univision Miami, where she was a producer of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. The CBS station in St. Petersburg hired her in the following year as a sports reporter. She relocated from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 in order to join the team of reporters at the Spanish stations KNVO TV 48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. Reporting on stories about immigration and drug-trafficking on both sides of the Texas-Mexico border, she worked as a reporter on newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor, reporter and reporter of news at 9 p.m. news in English, and another reporter for the 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. As an anchor, her duties on weather and sports was often requested. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's station affiliated with Dallas. In that station, she was given greater accountability. She covered major events such as the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason and finals FC Dallas as well. Also, she produced Univision 23's local sports channel Accion Deportiva Extra, on where she was anchor. She was promoted as anchor of sports on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. The anchor also worked in a similar role for the magazine program Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was born and raised in Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. Also, she has a sibling. The family relocated in Miami in 1992, after having left Mexico. Her parents divorced shortly afterwards and in 1995, she was married to a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo was diagnosed with kidney cancer. In the summer of 2006, she visited one week with her sibling at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working at the time. Antonietta was a senior high school student however, she was very aware of what she wanted to do in her future career. She visited Mount Union University in order to see if it was a good fit for her. It turned out that she was a fan of the university and it offered the degree she wanted. After completing her studies, she was accepted to the University with a degree in media studies. Mark Bergmann was her professor and was also the director of WRMU and WRMU, which she's a member. They had a very close friendship. Mark Bergmann inspired her to be confident in herself and his enthusiasm for journalism was deeply affecting her and she, in turn, strived to live up to his standards and never disappoint him.
